I Will Stick to a Hair Care Routine

If you don’t already have some kind of basic hair care routine in place, then it’s very easy to think you don’t need one. After all, your hair has been okay so far and it looks pretty passable once you’ve given it a wash and a quick brush. But those who do have a hair care routine in place know the difference it can make when you give your hair just that little bit extra TLC (think lots of shine, easy to manage strands and silky locks).

To get you started on a routine, give our “Daily Hair Care Routine in Six Easy Steps” a try. It’s got great tips about shampooing and conditioning your hair, and it includes easy to follow steps that’ll get your hair in tip-top shape in no time.

I Will Find the Right Hairstyle for Me

One of the most important hair resolutions to stick to is finding the right hair cut and the right hairstyle for YOU. Why? Because having the right hairstyle (one that suits your face shape, hair texture and density, and lifestyle) means that you’ll have a style that not only flatters and suits you, but also, you’ll find it easier to look after and style (which means more sleep-in time!)

For an idea of the types of styles that will suit your face shape, make sure you check out “The Right Hairstyle for Your Face Shape.” You can also find out about your hair texture with our “Free Consultation: Know Your Hair Texture and Elasticity.” Other considerations to take into account when choosing the right hairstyle are perhaps your age (see “‘Age Inappropriate’” Hair”), and the occasion (”New Hairstyles for all Your Holiday Events”).

To make sure you’re on the right track it’s also a good idea to have a chat with your hairdresser, as they’ll be able to give you their professional opinion about which hairstyles will suit you best and which ones will suit your lifestyle. For example, there’s no point choosing a style of cascading curls if you only have 10 minutes to do your hair!

To make the whole process even easier you can also upload your photo to TheHairStyler.com’s virtual hairstyler. That way you can find the styles that suit you and then print them with your photo. You’ll get a preview of how you might look with a different cut or style and you’ll be able to let your hairdresser know exactly what you’re after.

I Will Keep My Hair Healthy

If you’ve already managed to put a hair care routine in place, and you’ve gotten the right hairstyle for you, then this resolution will help keep you on track for fabulous healthy hair. Regular trims (at least every 6 weeks) and a weekly hair treatment (do it at home and use the time to put your feet up) will ensure your hair is healthy and that your locks look great. Also, handle your hair with care by using a brush on dry hair or a comb on wet hair. A diet rich in fresh fruit and vegies is a great idea too.

I Will Use the Right Hair Styling Tools and Hair Products

My last resolution will make or break all of your hard work. Using the wrong styling products for your hair type, such as a creamy shampoo, or thick and heavy products for fine hair, will do nothing for your hair except leave it limp, lifeless and hard to manage. Using the correct products and making sure you use your blow-dryer and hair straightener correctly (remember: always use a heat protecting product first and style on the lowest heat setting) will ensure that the care you’ve given your hair will pay off

  • Love the resolutions. Here is my addition to this nice bit of writing: If you are in a hurry, use Mixed Chicks leave-in conditioner. It is a wash and go product that totally defines curls and stops frizz in a natural looking way.
